Job summary
The post holder will be joining our Performance & Informatics (P&I) department who are well respected and the largest of our corporate services. The P&I portfolio encompasses Business Intelligence & Informatics, Corporate Performance, Information Systems Development, Clinical Coding, Data Quality, Patient Access, Cancer Services and Ward Clerks.
P&I work cross functionally to support the Trusts operational delivery of both national and internal targets which ensures the highest standards of patient care are delivered. A robust Performance Management Framework is embedded across UHCW that tracks and evaluates progress and supports both operational and clinical governance frameworks.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be joining P&I's Informatics portfolio and will be responsible for the collation, processing, analysis, presentation & interpretation of information. Key to the role will be handling data from a variety of sources in varying formats including comparative data systems and reports. The post holder will be required to perform complex database queries and spreadsheet analyses to generate both routine, mandatory and adhoc reports as well as undertaking benchmarking analysis to support the business and information needs of the Trust.
The post-holder will provide technical support to Trust wide services with particular emphasis on outcomes and services dataset requirements to ensure compliance with all mandated data requirements.
The post holder will work with group management and clinical teams to ensure that robust information is available to enable delivery of Trust wide mandated National Data requirements and ad-hoc data requests.

Job description
Job responsibilities
- Responsible for the provision of information as required to external agencies such as Department of Health and NHSE/I including the processing and production of statutory information returns, having assured consistency and correctness to strict deadlines.
- Obtain appropriate sign off from relevant operational leads and an Executive Director for statistical information returns and data distributed external to the Trust.
- Contribute to the performance management of key national targets.
- Interrogate the Trusts data warehouse using SQL and interfaces with MS Access and Excel, using pivot tables and functions for the purposes of analysis and report generation, presenting Trust data in appropriate formats as requested by the Information Managers, Head of Business Intelligence and other information analysts.
- Highlight variations in quality, completeness and/or interpretation of data/management information to the Management Team as appropriate.
- Liaise with multiple stakeholders across the department and Trust highlighting areas of concern in relation to performance and quality and identifying possible causes and solutions to problems.
- The production of information for key trust reports to the Trust board and Trust committees.
- Facilitate the delivery of a programme of routine reports and delivery of Business as Usual reporting to defined timescales. Analysing and presenting routine data reports, having assured consistency and correctness of methodology.
- Make recommendations on improvements to recording and reporting processes as identified in the course of day to day work, taking appropriate action as agreed with the Corporate Performance management as appropriate.
- Respond to adhoc information requests, carrying out complex analysis and provision of data as requested by staff at all levels throughout the Trust and to appropriate external users, ensuring understanding of data provided and advising of its appropriate use as needed.
- To provide expert advice, explanations and support on mandatory submissions and other related information issues.
- Take an active part in the Trusts development and implementation of new data systems as instructed.
- Take an active role in the development, promotion and utilisation of BI systems as the reference for data reporting and data flows.
- Actively participate in Trust-wide information groups and participate in meetings in relation to performance, quality and information.
- To be responsible for undertaking analysis of Trust data for benchmarking purposes and reconciliation of this compared to the Trusts own data sources, raising issues as appropriate. Using systems such as Telstra Health, Model Hospital, Federated Data Platform.
- To ensure that the Data Protection Act recommendations relating to the provision of information are followed at all times.
