Pathology Order Communications Facilitator
Job summary
Coventry and Warwickshire Pathology Services (CWPS) in conjunction with the Coventry and Warwickshire Bowel Cancer Screening Centre are seeking to appoint two fixed-term/seconded Band 5 staff to roll out our Pathology request/result system across Birmingham and Solihull (BSol) GP practices.
The Coventry and Warwickshire Bowel Cancer Screening Centre, based at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust (UHCW), delivers the diagnostic element of the NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Service for the Coventry and Warwickshire population. The service covers all men and women aged between 52 and 74 registered with a GP within Coventry and Warwickshire.
After a successful tender award, the Coventry and Warwickshire Bowel Cancer Screening Centre will also now provide its service across Birmingham and Solihull. Your role will be to implement the EMIS/Optum tQuest system to GP practices across this region.
This will include; installation of equipment, training of GP practice staff, troubleshooting issues as first line response, and acting as liaison between GP staff, system providers and EMIS/Optum Supplier.

Main duties of the job
You will have experience of working with order communications systems in a Healthcare environment and experience in working with Pathology laboratories.
You will be an excellent communicator, able to relay IT technical information to users so that they are able to understand and use systems. You will be able to work closely and supportively with a variety of stakeholders including Suppliers, Trust IT teams and GPs.
You will be part of the Partnership Team that operates across CWPS sites and across the GP Practices that CWPS serves. You will focus on the Birmingham and Solihull GP Practices for this roll out and so will be required to travel widely and frequently to GP Practices.
From this 12-month fixed-term/secondment role, you will become an expert in the implementation of order communication systems for Pathology. You will be able to further develop your skills in training GP staff to adopt order communications, and you will have developed your Pathology and Primary care IT systems knowledge.

Job responsibilities
You will ensure that protocols are adhered to for the safe use of all Pathology IT equipment. This includes PCs, printers, scanners and analytical instrument managers. You will support GPs in implementing this hardware in their Practices alongside installing and training them on the tQuest system.
You will be responsible for configuration changes to tQuest during the set up and will liaise with the Primary Care support team to add new GP users into the Laboratory IT system and its GP reporting system, Clinisys Labcomm.
