Senior Technical Services Manager, Infrastructure
Job summary
We are seeking an experienced ICT Infrastructure Leader to manage and continuously improve the Trust's corporate systems and server estate, ensuring secure, resilient, and high-quality service delivery. The role provides overall leadership of third-line infrastructure support, overseeing incident, problem, change, and configuration management, cyber security compliance, data centre operations, backups, disaster recovery, and supplier relationships. You will lead and develop a skilled technical team, ensuring clear accountability, strong performance management, effective on-call and out-of-hours cover, and adherence to SLAs, KPIs, Trust policies, and statutory requirements. Acting as deputy to the Head of Technical Services, you will deliver infrastructure projects using PRINCE2, drive continual service improvement, champion best practice aligned to ISO 27001 and ISO 9001 standards, and ensure excellent communication with stakeholders across the organisation.
Main duties of the job
Provide leadership and operational management for corporate ICT infrastructure services, including maintenance, configuration, change, problem and incident management. Lead 3rd line infrastructure workstreams, ensuring effective prioritisation, resource allocation and service delivery. Take overall responsibility for team performance, role clarity, skills development, succession planning and appraisal through the PDR process, deputising for the Head of Technical Services when required.
Ensure infrastructure, server, storage and data centre environments are secure, resilient and compliant with cyber security guidance, Trust policies, ISO 27001/9001 standards and statutory requirements. Oversee patching, backups, logging, asset management and system upgrades, contributing to business continuity, disaster recovery and Controls Assurance.
Manage on-call and out-of-hours support, acting as an escalation point for major incidents and ensuring adequate coverage, skills and reporting. Maintain strong service governance through ServiceNow, driving performance against SLAs and KPIs, producing management reports and escalating risks where required.
Lead infrastructure projects using PRINCE2 principles, ensuring delivery to agreed scope, quality, budget and timescales. Build effective relationships with stakeholders, suppliers and FM providers, communicate service-impacting changes clearly, promote continuous improvement, and maintain awareness of industry developments.
