Endoscopy Receptionist FGH

Job summary

The overall purpose of the role is to:

  • Provide a professional and efficient reception service to the Endoscopy day case unit, ensuring that all patients and visitors are welcomed to the department in an appropriate manner whilst adhering to the Trust Policy and Data Quality.
  • Provide professional, comprehensive and effective administration support service to the administration, nursing and wider medical teams.
  • The job will cover a 7 day service 8am - 18:00pm

Main duties of the job

Open and prioritise incoming post as Standard Operating Procedure.

Make and receive telephone calls and fax correspondence as directed.

To provide administrative support service to the department including inputting of data.

Maintain department databases and spreadsheets as appropriate

Effective liaison with relevant wards and departments within the hospital and other providers associated with the department to ensure a prompt and effective communication system.

To provide a welcoming and professional approach to all members of the public and staff attending the department.

Undertake general office duties including, answering the telephone, meet and greet, photocopying, faxing and filing.

Communicate department information to the management team as required.

Ensure that up-to-date written and electronic records are maintained in accordance with professional and Trust standards

Keep up-to-date with any computerised systems introduced and attend any training required.

Deputise for other team members during periods of absence.

Participate in annual appraisal. Identify and action own development needs and establish personal supervision/mentorship.

Participate in all mandatory training as required by the Trust.

About us

We operatefrom three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, andUlverstonCommunity Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
