Our client is a venture-backed property management group bringing established businesses onto a single platform. Legal enquiry and company secretarial work currently gets done well in pockets rather than as a system across the group. They are hiring one person to own it properly - and then to build it into something the whole group runs on.
The role
This runs in two phases, and the first one is hands-on.
You start by taking the work on directly, across every company in the group.
- LPE1s and sales packs turned round accurately and fast.
- Completion documents prepared and records updated once a sale completes.
- Pet, sublet and alteration consents, deeds of variation and other deeds, issued correctly against the lease.
- Confirmation statements filed on time, accounts minuted and filed at Companies House, directors chased through verification to completion, and anything at risk of running late escalated before it becomes a problem.
- When a director will not or cannot verify, you review the articles and memorandum, work out the board’s real options, and help the property manager advise them.
Doing it by hand first is deliberate. It gives you the time and focus to get ahead of the work and set the standard, and that standard becomes the blueprint.
From there you work with an in-house product team to turn the whole area into a more automated system - defining what gets tracked, pressure-testing it against how the work actually happens, then leading the rollout across every company. The technology carries the scale rather than extra headcount, so your own time moves from the doing towards the judgement calls and the build.
The Ideal Candidiate
- You have actually done this work, not studied it - LPE1s, sales packs, lease consents, confirmation statements and Companies House filings.
- You come from a residential managing agent, freeholder, ground rent administrator or block management business, most likely from a leasehold sales, sales progression, company secretarial, RMC/RTM services, legal services or compliance team.
- You are comfortable at volume and across multiple sites, rather than in one small settled portfolio.
- You take ownership. Given a messy, high-stakes area, you get on top of it and keep it there, and you know which calls are yours and which to escalate.
- Detail is your default. In this work, accuracy is safety and liability.
- You are systems-minded - comfortable with software, keen to work alongside a product team, and energised rather than threatened by the idea of turning your own job into a system.
- Experience of acquisitions, TUPE transfers, mobilisations or system migrations is a real advantage here.
- TPI (formerly IRPM) membership is well regarded. A legal qualification is a plus, not a requirement - practical experience is what matters.
This is the rare one in property management: you own LPE1s, sales packs, consents, deeds and Companies House compliance across a growing group.
No predecessor. No established way of doing it. You set the standard, then you automate it.
If you have done both the leasehold side and the company secretarial side, or one of them very well and want the other, I would like to talk to you.
