Technical Solutions Engineer – Deep-Tech AI (RetailTech / PoS Vision AI)

London (Hybrid – 1 day onsite)

£80–90k + Bonus + Equity

We’re partnering with one of London’s most exciting deep-tech AI scale-ups, pioneers of on-device, self-training AI now deployed across 1,000+ Tier 1 retail stores . Their edge platform powers real-time computer vision and PoS automation across global retail estates.

They’re hiring a Technical Solutions Engineer, not a TAM, not a PM, not an implementation role. Think: deep troubleshooting, edge deployments, distributed systems, containers, logs, Linux, cloud , and full technical ownership of AI models running across thousands of PoS devices .

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Own the technical success of enterprise deployments across thousands of PoS + edge devices
  • Troubleshoot end-to-end: AI model behaviour, device integrations, networks, cloud infra, on-device performance
  • Analyse logs, metrics and telemetry (Grafana, Metabase) to pinpoint root cause
  • Work hands-on with Linux, SQL, Docker, AWS/GCP/Azure
  • Lead pilots, rollouts and on-device testing across major retail estates
  • Collaborate with Engineering, ML, and Product to improve reliability + performance
  • Manage incidents from first alert to identifying product-level bugs
  • Translate complex technical issues into clear, actionable guidance for enterprise retail clients
  • Act as the dedicated technical point of contact for strategic accounts

Ideal Background

You’re a hands-on, client facing, technical support engineer with real ownership experience in live customer environments, ideally within RetailTech (SaaS), PoS systems, edge AI, computer vision, or IoT .

You understand:

  • Edge ML pipelines (training, validation, orchestration)
  • Retail IT infrastructure (PoS, SCO, store networks)
  • Integration frameworks (APIs, SDKs, cloud-edge sync)

Technical Requirements

Strong troubleshooting across:

  • SQL
  • Linux / OS-level commands
  • Docker / containers
  • Cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Log analysis, performance monitoring
  • Diagnosing issues across AI models, integrations, networks, device hardware, cloud layers

Highly relevant backgrounds:

  • Technical Support Engineer (L2/L3)
  • Solutions Engineer
  • Platform Support Engineer / SRE-lite
  • Deeply technical TAM (SaaS/AI/IoT)
  • Experience with distributed systems, edge devices, IoT or ML/AI environments
