Overview
We are seeking an experienced C-level Technology & Transformation leader to drive large-scale change across a UK Life & Pensions organisation. This role will lead the end-to-end modernisation of core platforms, digital capability, and operating models, with a particular focus on policy administration transformation and Guidewire-led ecosystems.
Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the Board and Executive Committee, the successful candidate will shape and deliver a multi-year transformation agenda, ensuring technology enables growth, efficiency, regulatory compliance, and improved customer outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Transformation & Strategy
- Define and execute the technology and transformation strategy aligned to Life & Pensions business objectives.
- Lead complex, multi-year change programmes covering core systems, digital platforms, data, and operating model transformation.
- Act as executive sponsor for major transformation initiatives, ensuring delivery to time, cost, and quality.
Core Platforms & Guidewire
- Provide executive ownership of Guidewire-based platforms (PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, ClaimsCenter and associated digital layers), ensuring alignment with Life & Pensions product and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee core system modernisation, migration from legacy platforms, and integration with third-party and cloud-based services.
- Ensure platform scalability, resilience, and future-proofing.
Technology Leadership
- Lead architecture, engineering, delivery, and change functions across the enterprise.
- Drive adoption of modern delivery practices, cloud technologies, and data-driven decision making.
- Ensure strong governance, security, resilience, and regulatory compliance across the technology estate.
Change, People & Culture
- Build and lead high-performing senior leadership teams across technology and transformation.
- Embed a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and customer focus.
- Partner with HR and the wider executive team on organisational design, capability uplift, and change adoption.
Stakeholder & Board Engagement
- Act as a trusted advisor to the Board and executive stakeholders on technology risk, investment, and transformation progress.
- Manage senior internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, system integrators, and strategic partners.
- Own executive-level reporting on transformation outcomes, benefits realisation, and risk management.
Experience & Background
- Proven experience in a C-level or equivalent executive technology/transformation role within Life & Pensions, Insurance, or Financial Services.
- Strong track record of delivering large-scale core system and business transformations.
- Deep understanding of Guidewire platforms and their application within regulated insurance environments.
- Experience leading complex change in highly regulated UK financial services organisations.
- Strong commercial, vendor management, and systems-integrator oversight experience.
