Technical Co-Founder (CTO) — Digital Health
About
Velora is a UK-based digital health venture building a governance-first clinic operating system and verified booking infrastructure for a specialised, fast-growing healthcare segment. We are building a high-trust workflow platform designed for real-world clinical operations.
The role
We’re looking for a genuinely hands-on Technical Co-Founder (CTO) to own end-to-end delivery from first commit through pilot clinics and launch, and to establish strong engineering foundations from day one.
This is a builder-first role: heavy hands-on coding in Phase 1 and long-term CTO leadership beyond. You will own architecture, execution, and engineering quality end-to-end, and you will actively participate in fundraising (technical narrative, investor meetings, diligence readiness).
What you will deliver (first 8–12 weeks)
- A company-owned repo with a working CI/CD pipeline and reproducible deployment environments
- A demoable, running end-to-end vertical slice of the core clinic workflow
- Engineering foundations in place, including: clean data model, secure tenancy boundaries, RBAC/permissions, audit and event logging, secure defaults, testing discipline, and pragmatic security posture
- A pilot-ready MVP plan with clear milestones, scope control, and delivery cadence
- Fundraising support: clear architecture rationale, delivery confidence, security/privacy posture, and roadmap sequencing
Responsibilities
- Own MVP delivery end-to-end: architecture, implementation, deployment, iteration
- Build a workflow-heavy B2B SaaS product with production-grade integrity (security, permissions, data correctness, reliability)
- Set engineering standards early: repo hygiene, CI/CD, testing, observability, controlled releases
- Partner tightly with the founder on scope, prioritisation, and delivery planning
- Over time, shape the early engineering hiring plan and mentor engineers as the team grows
You are a strong fit if you
- Have recently (last 2–3 years) personally built, shipped, and operated a modern web-based multi-tenant B2B SaaS product in production
- Can design and implement secure tenancy boundaries, RBAC/permissions, and audit and event logging in real systems
- Are security-minded by default: threat-model instincts, secure defaults, minimal attack surface, clean boundaries
- Have experience in a high-trust domain (healthtech, fintech, identity/security, payments) and build with privacy-by-design thinking (UK GDPR-aware)
- Can ship with high velocity while keeping scope tight and quality high, and can clearly explain what you would cut to hit a pilot milestone
- Can share 1–2 concrete examples of end-to-end shipped work you personally owned (links or a short walkthrough)
- Want a real co-founder role: long-term commitment, technical ownership, and direct involvement in fundraising and diligence
Technical baseline
- Strong full-stack capability (TypeScript/Node and/or Python; React/Next.js or equivalent)
- Strong AWS delivery track record (deployment, CI/CD, observability, security hygiene)
- Practical experience with multi-tenant SaaS architecture, RBAC, audit/event logging, and integrations
Nice-to-have
- Experience with payments (Stripe), identity verification, messaging/comms logging, or healthcare workflow products
- Experience running controlled pilots with real customers and tight feedback loops
- Evidence of high-quality engineering leadership: hiring judgement, code review culture, architecture governance, reliability mindset
Structure
- Equity and salary details are shared with shortlisted candidates.
Who this is NOT for
- If you want a non-hands-on, fractional, or primarily advisory CTO role
- If you require a full market CTO salary immediately
- If you prefer low-accountability work without milestones and documentation
