Head of Software EngineeringPermanentCardiff – Hybrid (2 days per week onsite)£80,000 – £90,000Are you a senior technology leader ready to shape the future of a major digital transformation programme? This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing digital and data function as Head of Software Engineering, leading the consolidation of a complex legacy landscape into a single modern platform built on Microsoft Power Platform, Dataverse, .NET and Azure. Leading a team of around 12, you'll set technical direction, drive the team's transition into new technologies, and act as a strategic leader influencing standards and best practice at scale.
This is a high-impact role suited to someone with strong technical credibility and the gravitas to lead a sensitive period of organisational change.Key Responsibilities:Set strategic direction for software engineering and platform architectureDefine and govern enterprise-wide technical architecture across applications, platforms, data and integrationDrive adoption of modern engineering standards and practicesLead and mentor a multidisciplinary team, upskilling them into new technologiesOversee migration from legacy systems to modern cloud-based platformsWork closely with data architecture teams and oversee scrum master functionsRepresent the organisation in architecture governance forumsBuild partnerships with stakeholders and suppliers to drive innovationManage budgets for software development teams and infrastructureKey Requirements:Senior leadership experience in software engineering, platform architecture or enterprise systemsStrong expertise in Microsoft technologies: Power Platform, Dataverse, .NET, AzureTrack record of modernising legacy technology and delivering sustainable solutionsExperience leading multidisciplinary teams in a complex, regulated environmentStrong leadership and stakeholder communication skillsMasters level education in IT/Computer Science or equivalent experienceArchitecture certifications (e.g. TOGAF, Azure Solutions Architect Expert) desirableHead of Software EngineeringPermanentCardiff – Hybrid (2 days per week onsite)£80,000 – £90,000Apply today to speak with VIQU in confidence or contact Belle Hegarty via the VIQU website.
