IT Systems Administrator – 6 Month Contract
Overview
We are looking for an experienced IT Systems Administrator / IT Support Engineer to join a busy and fast-paced IT team on an initial 6-month contract.
This role focuses on onboarding and supporting external contractors, ensuring they have the correct accounts, permissions, software and remote access to begin work efficiently. You'll work closely with internal IT teams, project stakeholders and third-party partners, while also supporting day-to-day IT operations during quieter onboarding periods.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Windows administration, VPN/Virtual Desktop technologies, user access management and end-user support.
Key Responsibilities
- Provision and manage user accounts in Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID.
- Manage Joiners, Movers and Leavers (JML) processes.
- Configure user permissions, security groups and network share access.
- Configure and support VPN and remote access solutions.
- Prepare and deploy contractor workstations and end-user devices.
- Install and configure software and application licences.
- Provide first and second-line deskside and remote support.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software and access-related issues.
- Work with networking teams, project managers and third-party partners to coordinate onboarding and connectivity.
- Maintain accurate documentation and contractor records.
- Support device deployments, IT projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience in an IT Systems Administrator, IT Support Engineer, Desktop Support or Service Desk role.
- Strong Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID administration experience.
- Experience managing user accounts, permissions and security groups.
- Experience with Windows desktop and Windows Server environments.
- Experience managing JML processes.
- Experience supporting VPN or remote access technologies.
- Experience building and configuring end-user devices.
- Experience supporting Microsoft 365.
- Excellent troubleshooting, communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with GlobalProtect or similar remote access technologies.
- Experience administering Perforce.
- Experience with software deployment and licence management.
- Experience working within software or game development environments.
Additional Information
This is a full-time, onsite role (five days per week). The successful contractor will be organised, customer-focused and comfortable managing multiple onboarding requests while supporting the wider IT team.
