Infrastructure Engineer – Outside IR35
Location: Hybrid / UK-based Contract Length: 6 months IR35 Status: Outside IR35
Overview
We are looking for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer with demonstratable experience around Windows Server upgrades/migrations.
This role focuses primarily on Windows Server but will also include upgrading/migration SQL Servers to newer versions.
The customer operates in a highly regulated environment so previous experience in insurance, banking, financial services or similar is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Upgrade and support physical and virtual server infrastructure across on-prem and cloud environments
- Administer and maintain Windows Server platforms (Linux exposure desirable)
- Manage core services including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and identity integrations
- Ensure security, compliance, and audit readiness (e.g. SOC2, internal standards) in collaboration with InfoSec
- Drive automation, upgrades, and documentation (scripting, runbooks, and standardisation initiatives)
Key Skills & Experience
- Strong Windows Server administration experience (essential)
- Experience within Financial Services or a similarly regulated environment
- Expertise in Active Directory and core infrastructure services (DNS, DHCP, GPO)
- Experience with security best practices, server hardening, and audited environments (e.g. SOC2)
- Scripting and automation skills (e.g. PowerShell, Bash)
- Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure, AWS)
