Active SC Clearance is required for this position.

We're working with a well-established organisation in the Financial Services sector to recruit an experienced Server Engineer to join its infrastructure team. This role offers the opportunity to support a large-scale Windows server estate while playing a key part in modernisation and infrastructure improvement initiatives.

Location: Central London (Hybrid - 2-3 days per week onsite)

Required Technology Experience

• Windows Server: Strong enterprise-level administration and support experience, including building, deploying, maintaining and decommissioning servers.

• PowerShell: Strong scripting and automation skills, with experience developing scripts to streamline administration and operational tasks.

• VMware vSphere: Hands-on experience administering virtual server environments. Hyper-V experience would be advantageous.

• Microsoft Infrastructure: Strong practical knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and Group Policy.

• Server Security & Lifecycle: Experience with Windows patch management, operating system upgrades, security hardening and vulnerability remediation.

• Infrastructure Support: Proven experience troubleshooting and supporting business-critical infrastructure within an enterprise environment.

Desirable technology experience: Microsoft Azure, MECM/SCCM, Microsoft Intune, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and Linux.

Responsibilities

As a Server Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

• Server Infrastructure: Build, configure, deploy, maintain and retire Windows servers across physical and virtual environments, ensuring systems remain secure, resilient, highly available and performant.

• Microsoft & Virtualisation: Administer enterprise Windows Server environments alongside core Microsoft technologies including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and Group Policy, as well as VMware vSphere infrastructure.

• Automation & Infrastructure Improvement: Create and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate administration, improve operational efficiency and support ongoing infrastructure modernisation initiatives.
