Systems Engineer
Location: London – Permanent | £75,000 | Hybrid (initially onsite to embed in the business)
We are partnering with a growing investment firm to recruit a proactive and technically skilled Systems Engineer . This newly created role sits within a small, agile IT team and is ideal for someone passionate about automation, systems architecture, and delivering robust, scalable infrastructure. Industry experience is essential — applicants must have a background within financial services, legal, or insurance environments. You’ll take ownership of designing, implementing, and optimising core systems and workflows that support business operations end-to-end.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain end-to-end IT systems and infrastructure with a focus on automation, integration, and operational efficiency.
- Develop and maintain scripts using PowerShell, Python, JavaScript, or similar to automate system processes, configurations, and monitoring.
- Build and manage business process automations using Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI).
- Work closely with stakeholders to gather technical and business requirements, translating them into secure and scalable system designs.
- Lead system design sessions and produce documentation covering architectures, workflows, and system dependencies.
- Ensure secure, reliable deployment and maintenance of solutions across hybrid environments (on-premises and cloud).
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise system performance, reliability, and security posture.
- Provide training, guidance, and technical support to internal teams adopting new systems and automations.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in systems engineering, infrastructure delivery, or hybrid environment implementation.
- Mandatory experience working within financial services, legal, or insurance organisations.
- Strong scripting and automation capabilities (PowerShell, Python, JavaScript, or equivalent).
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365, Azure AD, and the Microsoft Power Platform.
- Solid understanding of solution architecture, system deployment, and lifecycle management.
- Excellent communication skills, with confidence engaging senior stakeholders.
- Proactive, professional, and solution-oriented, capable of working independently or within a collaborative team.
- Interest in emerging technologies such as AI, cloud, cybersecurity, and data analytics.
