Zscaler Cyber Engineer

We are looking for a Zscaler Engineer to join the Cyber team on a contract basis to to provide technical leadership for the migration of web Proxy services from a Legacy Trend solution to Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA), ensuring effective coordination of engineering teams, data-driven technical planning, and successful migration execution within a structured delivery environment.

Location: Preston - ad hoc travel to site - mainly remote

\n

Duration: 6 months

\n

Day rate £450 -500 a day - Inside IR35

\n

Key Skills & Experience Required

\n

    \n
  • Deep technical expertise in:

\n\n

\n
    \n
  • Zscaler ZIA and ZPA (CASB desirable)
  • \n

  • Identity integration (Entra ID, SSO, SCIM, Conditional Access)
  • \n

  • Azure IaaS and networking (VPN Gateway, routing, connectivity design)

\n \n\n

    \n
  • Strong working knowledge of:

\n\n

    \n
      \n
    • Enterprise networking (routing, switching, Firewalls)
    • \n

    • Security operations, logging, and SIEM integration

    \n \n

  • Proven experience leading engineering teams across infrastructure/network/security transformations
  • \n

  • Strong data handling capability, including advanced Excel for engineering control and analysis
  • \n

  • Ability to operate effectively within ambiguous, evolving technical environments
  • \n

  • Strong knowledge of Excel for Data Analysis

\n\n

The Zscaler Engineer role will be required to and to demonstrate that they can undertake the following;

\n

Technical Leadership

\n

    \n
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership across Infrastructure and Network Engineering teams, guiding in resolving technical issues and design challenges
  • \n

  • Provide subject matter expertise across Zscaler (ZIA, ZPA, and CASB) and Azure
  • \n

  • Review the relevant Zscaler Designs and act as the escalation point for technical migration challenges

\n\n

Migration Delivery

\n

    \n
  • Work with the PM to plan and then oversee execution of the Proxy migration workstream across both the on-premises and Azure estates
  • \n

  • Technical management of the migration waves, cutover activities, and rollback planning
  • \n

  • Ensure minimal service disruption and alignment with security standards
  • \n

  • Coordinate interdependencies with infrastructure, application, and network teams

Data Management & Planning

\n

    \n
  • Own and govern the core engineering dataset (Excel-based) supporting migration
  • \n

  • Develop and maintain technical artefacts and engineering controls to support engineering decision-making

\n\n

Governance & Reporting

\n

    \n
  • Provide technical assurance and reporting into the project manager
  • \n

  • Identify and manage technical risks, issues, and constraints
  • \n

  • Ensure consistency and quality across project engineering outputs

\n\n

Deliverables

\n

    \n
  • Technical server migration control dataset
  • \n

  • Maintained and validated migration dataset
  • \n

  • Technical progress reporting (status, risks, issues, dependencies)
  • \n

  • Successful migration of in-scope services to ZIA
  • \n

  • Post-migration validation and issue resolution
