Role Overview

We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled AWS Data Engineer to join our expanding Data & Technology practice. As a key member of our data engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, building, and optimising modern data solutions on AWS that power critical business insights for our clients.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a consulting environment where no two projects are the same. You'll work closely with clients across industries, applying your technical expertise to deliver scalable and secure data platforms that drive real business value.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement modern data pipelines and architectures on AWS

• Build and maintain scalable data lakes, data warehouses, and Real Time streaming solutions

• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver robust data solutions

• Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or AWS CloudFormation

• Ensure data quality, reliability, and security best practices across all platforms

• Optimise performance and cost of data workloads

• Support pre-sales and client engagement with technical expertise and solution design

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering with a strong focus on AWS cloud services

• Proficiency in AWS services such as S3, Glue, Athena, Redshift, Lambda, Step Functions, and EMR

• Experience building data pipelines using tools like Apache Spark, PySpark, or AWS Glue

• Strong SQL and Python programming skills

• Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps practices in a data context

• Hands-on experience with IaC tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation

• Understanding of data governance, privacy, and security standards

• Strong problem-solving skills and a consultancy mindset

Desirable Skills

• AWS certification (eg, AWS Certified Data Analytics - Specialty, AWS Solutions Architect)

• Experience working in a client-facing or consultancy environment

• Knowledge of other cloud platforms (Azure, GCP) is a plus

• Experience with containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) is an advantage
