Business Support Administrator
Valeco Recruitment is delighted to be supporting our established client, based at Leadburn, with the permanent hire of an integral Office and Business Support Specialist.
Reporting to the Office Manager, this is a unique and varied role that combines finance/inventory control, office administration, and internal IT system development. If you are a proactive problem-solver with a strong financial acumen and a flair for improving efficiency, this is your chance to make a tangible impact.
What You Will Be DoingAs the vital link in the office, your responsibilities will be diverse and challenging:
- Financial & Inventory Control: Tracking, recording, and analysing inventory data using accounting principles to ensure accuracy. Creating financial and statistical reports using advanced Excel spreadsheets.
- Accounts & Administration: Accurate data entry into the accounts system (purchase orders, receipting goods, passing invoices, customer invoicing/delivery notes). Providing administrative support across all areas of the business.
- Cost Management & Negotiation: Managing electricity accounts, reviewing contracts, and using financial forecasting/risk analysis skills. Dealing with insolvency situations and negotiating business terms for the most cost-effective outcomes.
- Systems Improvement (Key Project): A significant part of the role will be engaging in improving our client’s internal IT systems and business models. This includes analysing requirements, configuring, testing, and implementing feasible solutions to streamline and improve the current workload.
The successful candidate will be a self-motivated, logical, and analytical thinker with the following essential attributes:
- IT & Numeracy: High proficiency in Microsoft Office, with expert-level knowledge of Excel (essential for reporting and data management). Excellent numeracy skills.
- Work Ethic: Exceptional attention to detail, proven ability to prioritise a busy workload, and comfortable working well under pressure.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with colleagues, suppliers, and customers.
- Team & Individual: Highly capable of working both individually (using own initiative) and as a collaborative part of the team.
- Logistics: A full UK Driving Licence is essential due to the rural location of the office.
