Job Title: Automation Architect (Ansible Automation Platform)

Contract Type: 12-month initial contract (Inside IR35)

Overview

We are working with a major financial services client seeking an experienced Automation Architect to lead the design and evolution of enterprise-scale automation solutions. This is a high-impact role focused on architecture, governance, and technical leadership across a complex, regulated environment. The successful contractor will play a key role in shaping automation strategy while enabling engineering teams to deliver secure, scalable, and resilient automation capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and architect scalable, secure, and resilient solutions using Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (AAP).
  • Define and enforce automation standards, governance models, and best practices across the enterprise.
  • Lead platform consolidation, migration, and upgrade initiatives, including adoption of new AAP features.
  • Collaborate closely with infrastructure, application, and security teams to integrate end-to-end automation workflows.
  • Develop and maintain automation playbooks, roles, execution environments, and supporting frameworks.
  • Ensure strong compliance, RBAC, and credential management aligned with financial services security standards.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and enablement for engineering and operations teams.
  • Evaluate new AAP features, integrations, and emerging automation technologies.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex automation and platform-level issues.
  • Produce high-quality architecture documentation and contribute to the wider automation roadmap and strategy.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Extensive hands-on experience with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform and Ansible Core.
  • Strong working knowledge of AAP 2.6 features and enterprise deployment patterns.
  • Proven background in infrastructure, cloud, and application automation within large-scale environments.
  • Proficiency in YAML, Python, and related automation tooling.
  • Solid experience implementing RBAC, security controls, and compliance in regulated enterprises.
  • Good understanding of CI/CD, DevOps practices, and integrations with monitoring and ITSM tools.
  • Experience with configuration-as-code concepts and automation governance.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong documentation skills and an architecture-led mindset.
