Electronic Design Engineer - Medical
READING
- Duration: 8 months (initially)
- Location: Hybrid (2 days per week), Reading
- Outside IR35
- £50--£65 per hour
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electronic hardware for wearable medical and healthcare technologies, including sensor-based and physiological monitoring systems.
- Schematic capture, component selection, circuit simulation, PCB design and layout reviews, prototyping and laboratory testing.
- Develop analogue, digital and mixed-signal electronics for applications such as physiological sensing, data acquisition, signal conditioning and wearable monitoring.
- Support design verification and validation, including electrical performance, EMC, environmental and reliability testing.
- Collaborate with embedded software, mechanical, textile, manufacturing and quality teams to investigate design issues and deliver robust, production-ready electronic solutions.
Essential Skills
- Experience designing electronic hardware within medical devices, healthcare, wearable technology or another highly regulated industry.
- Understanding of analogue, digital and mixed-signal electronics, including sensors, signal conditioning and microcontroller-based systems.
- Experience with schematic capture, PCB design, component selection, prototyping and laboratory validation.
- Experience developing low-power or compact electronics for embedded or wearable applications.
- Knowledge of EMC/EMI, signal integrity and reliable electronic design, with technical documentation and communication skills.
- Understanding of regulated product development and standards such as ISO 13485, ISO 14971 and IEC 60601.
