- Job Title: Hardware Engineer
- Duration: 6 months
- Location: Hybrid (2 days per week), West Midlands
- Outside IR35
- 50- 60 per hour
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and validate automotive electronic hardware from concept through to production, ensuring compliance with customer, quality and functional safety requirements.
- Produce schematics, perform PCB layout, component selection and circuit simulation for analogue, digital and mixed-signal electronic systems, including ECUs and control modules.
- Perform hardware verification, debugging and root cause analysis using laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analysers, CAN tools and power analysers, supporting prototype development and design validation.
- Collaborate with systems, software, mechanical, manufacturing and test teams for hardware solutions, supporting design reviews, DFMEA activities and product lifecycle development.
Essential Skills
- Extensive experience designing electronic hardware within an automotive environment.
- Strong knowledge of analogue, digital and mixed-signal circuit design, schematic capture, PCB design principles and component selection.
- Experience with automotive communication protocols such as CAN, LIN and Automotive Ethernet, alongside hardware debugging and validation.
- Knowledge of automotive development standards and processes, including Functional Safety (ISO 26262), EMC compliance and APQP, with excellent technical documentation and communication skills.
