Purview Consultant

Our client is looking for a Purview Consultant to establish and structure Microsoft Purview as part of a new Microsoft Fabric Data Warehouse implementation. You will define and configure the organisation’s data catalogue and governance approach, ensuring incoming customer data is classified, documented, and discoverable across the business. This role is focused on building a usable and sustainable governance framework, alongside enabling the wider organisation to adopt Purview effectively.

Responsibilities

• Configure and structure Microsoft Purview to support the organisation’s new Microsoft Fabric Data Warehouse environment
• Define and implement data cataloguing, classification, and metadata standards for customer data entering the platform
• Establish and maintain a clear data governance framework aligned to business and reporting requirements
• Work closely with the Data Lead to map customer data into the correct domains, collections, and assets within Purview
• Populate and organise Purview with accurate business and technical metadata across key datasets
• Create and implement a practical and maintainable data dictionary structure for business users
• Deliver knowledge transfer sessions to the Data team and wider stakeholders on how to use and maintain Purview effectively
• Educate business users on data governance principles, metadata ownership, and data dictionary best practice
• Collaborate across technical and non-technical teams to improve data visibility, lineage, and accessibility
• Ensure the organisation can fully utilise Purview as a central governance and discovery tool following implementation
