Vela Software acquires, manages and builds industry specific software businesses globally. Vela is an operating group of Constellation Software Inc. (ticker CSU.TO), a leading provider of software and services to a select group of public and private sector markets. Constellation Software operates in over 100 countries and dozens of verticals and has completed over 1,000 acquisitions of small, medium and large private and public companies since its inception in 1995.
The Role
Reporting directly to the global CEO of Vela, you will play an integral role analyzing public and private software companies. The role will include a mix of modelling and analysis as well as sourcing, research, and engagement with existing and potential investments. The role provides a great entry point into Constellation Software, an opportunity to learn how we think about investing in and operating software businesses, and good exposure to senior leadership.
Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Undertake due diligence of select acquisition candidates.
- Undertake analysis of existing investments.
- Lead independent projects to address specific business challenges.
- Analyze the performance and strategic positioning of existing portfolio companies.
- Assist business units with growth plans for a broad portfolio of existing software companies.
The successful candidate will replace a person who was in this role and has since been promoted to a senior internal position.
Skills and experience
Ideal Candidate:
You have an interest in building a career in software and M&A, having already made a start in these fields or a related area that involves strategic analysis or investing. Your career interest may include progressing to a leading M&A/investing role or a senior position in business operations. You are a collaborative individual, who can work well with others across an organization. You are resourceful and take initiative to put forward suggestions on how to improve the status quo. You are curious and can learn new concepts and ideas with limited direction. You have the following attributes:
- Minimum three years of experience in one or more of the following areas: M&A, software investment, private equity, investment analysis, strategy analysis or consulting.
- Strong Excel skills, proficient in building models and demonstrated skills in decision making and problem solving.
- Ability to work across multiple and diverse cultures.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
- Willing and able to undertake international travel.
- Must be fluent in English, additional language skills would be a bonus.
This role is to be based in Europe or the United Kingdom. It can be undertaken working from home or in one of our many regional based offices.
