We are in an exciting period of change including opening a new world class cancer centre to extend and enhance specialist cancer treatment along with delivery of cancer care closer to home at regional sites. For the Welsh Blood Service, we are transforming blood and transplant services, improving current capabilities alongside developing new services including plasma for medicines.

Main duties of the job
The provision of high-quality Data and Insight services is central to the purpose and vision for the Trust to improve lives through excellent care, inspirational learning, and healthier people.
Operating as part of a digital multi-disciplinary team, the Data Analyst will effectively engage with colleagues across all areas of the Trust to help coproduce robust, user-centred, pragmatic analytical solutions.
Using your knowledge of multiple analytical techniques, you will support the delivery of analytical projects and contribute to the wider programme of work across Data and Insights, supporting the wider team to meet the expected standard of quality and timeliness.
You will be expected to contribute to the spirit of curiosity and creativity across Data & Insights and the wider Digital Services team and active participate in learning networks across the NHS and wider.
The Data Analyst will support the delivery of the Trust's digital strategy, working to embed a user-centric, agile ethos into our ways of working. Through the relationships established across the Trust, the Data Analyst will support the improvement of data literacy (skills & comfort) of the wider Trust workforce, developing analytical products that are easy to understand and use and also support informal skills transition.

Qualifications
- Educated to Bachelors Degree level or equivalent experience, specifically in an analytical discipline such as operational research, systems dynamics, data science, mathematics, computer science, social science or similar.
- Evidence of statistical and/or analytical training
- Knowledge of data management and governance processes
- Knowledge of analytical techniques for service / process design or redesign
Experience
- Experience of working closely with customers and stakeholders
- Experience of creating an analytical product taking data to insight
- Experience of delivering analytical insight to a non-technical audience
- Experience of delivering in challenging timescales and with competing priorities
- Experience of testing software systems
- Experience of service planning and forecasting in the public sector
Skills
- Knowledge of a range of analytical techniques and their application in tackling real problems.
- Ability to interpret data and create reports
- Ability to communicate complex analytical findings appropriately
- Data curiosity skills with critical questioning and innovative thinking
- Ability to be an active listener and to tailor communication to the audience.
- Understanding and knowledge of Agile methodology and service design principles.
