We are in an exciting period of change including opening a new world class cancer centre to extend and enhance specialist cancer treatment along with delivery of cancer care closer to home at regional sites.
Forthe Welsh Blood Service, we are transforming blood and transplant services, improving current capabilities alongside developing new services including plasma for medicines. An ambitious digital strategy underpins this, which will revolutionise the way in which we deliver services - from co-producing innovative technologies, working on digital inclusion, to embedding data & insight into our everyday.

Main duties of the job
The provision of high-quality Data and Insight services is central to the purpose and vision for the Trust.
Operating as part of a digital multi-disciplinary team, the Senior Data Analyst will effectively engage with colleagues across all areas of the Trust to help coproduce robust, user-centred, pragmatic analytical solutions. Drawing on your experience across multiple analytical techniques, you will be responsible for the delivery of analytical projects and also, supporting the wider team to meet the expected standard of quality and timeliness.
You will seek to suggest and adopt innovative ways of working and to contribute to the spirit of curiosity and creativity across Data & Insights and the wider Digital Services team and to our collective professional development through active participation in learning networks across the NHS and wider.
The Senior Data Analyst will support the delivery of the Trust's digital strategy, working to embed a user-centric, agile ethos into our ways of working. Through the relationships established across the Trust, you will support the improvement of data literacy (skills & comfort) of the wider Trust workforce, developing analytical products that are easy to understand and use and also deliver informal skills transition and small group learning events.

Qualifications
- Educated to Bachelors Degree level (or equivalent professional experience) along with plus additional specialist knowledge acquired through relevant experience or post-graduate qualification, specifically in an analytical discipline such as operational research, systems dynamics, data science, mathematics, computer science, social science or similar.
- Evidence of continued professional development
- Qualification in training delivery
- Qualification in quality improvement methodologies e.g. Improvement Advisor, ScIL, Lean, Six-Sigma
Experience
- Experience of working closely with customers and stakeholders to coproduce robust solutions
- Experience of delivering analytical insight in challenging timescales and with competing priorities
- Experience of using analytical techniques for service / process design or redesign
- Experience of regularly providing training in own discipline or responsibility for the teaching/delivery of core training on a range of analytical subjects or specialist training
- Experience of service planning and forecasting in the public sector
- Experience of mentoring or coaching teams or individuals
Skills
- Knowledge of a range of analytical techniques and their application in tackling real problems.
- Ability to manage and communicate work requirements and timescales to a diverse team
- Ability to communicate highly complex analytical findings appropriately
- Knowledge of techniques for undertaking research and development activities
- Understanding and knowledge of Agile methodology and service design principles.
- Use of computer modelling and simulation (e.g. Simul8) for service / process design.
- Knowledge of using artificial intelligence tools to improve efficiency
