Contract Senior Software Engineer - Typescript/Kotlin

Velocity Tech have partnered with an exciting tech company who are looking for a Senior Full Stack Developer to join their team on a contract basis.

The length of the contract is 6 months with the likelihood of extension. This is a hybrid role with the expectation of 3 days a week onsite in their London office.

Responsibilities:

• Lead full stack development of scalable web applications.
• Architect and implement clean, maintainable code in both the frontend and backend.
• Collaborate closely with product owners, designers, and engineers to define and deliver technical solutions.
• Set coding standards and best practices within the team.
• Conduct code reviews and ensure high-quality output.
• Identify technical risks early and provide solutions.
• Drive continuous improvement in development practices.

Key Skills & Experience:

• Strong commercial experience with TypeScript (React, Node.js preferred).
• Solid backend development experience with Kotlin (Spring Boot or Ktor frameworks advantageous).
• Previous leadership experience – mentoring developers, leading small teams or pods.
• Excellent understanding of software architecture and scalable systems design.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Strong CI/CD and DevOps practices (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS or similar desirable).
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
