Data Architect
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Glasgow, is currently looking to recruit a Data Architect for an initial 6 month contract with potential to extend on a rate of £600/day (Inside IR35). This role will be a hybrid of working at home and in the office.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, maintenance and governance of enterprise, logical and physical data models across data products.
- Define and implement data architecture standards, modelling conventions and best practices to ensure consistency across solutions.
- Design scalable data structures that support reporting, analytics, AI and machine learning use cases.
- Collaborate with Data Engineers to ensure data solutions are aligned to the target architecture.
- Establish and maintain data governance practices, including metadata management, lineage, quality and stewardship using an established data catalogue.
- Provide architectural oversight for new data contracts, data marts, integrations and platform enhancements.
- Support the development of trusted, reusable and discoverable datasets to accelerate AI and advanced analytics initiatives.
- Lead data modelling reviews, design workshops and technical decision-making with business and reporting stakeholders.
- Produce and maintain architecture artefacts, standards and documentation, whilst mentoring delivery teams on data modelling and architectural best practice.
Essential Skills:
- Demonstrable experience working as a Data Architect within modern cloud data environments.
- Strong expertise in designing & implementing conceptual, logical and physical data modelling.
- Experience designing data models for enterprise-scale data warehouses, lakehouse’s and analytical platforms.
- Strong understanding of data governance, metadata management, lineage and data quality disciplines.
- Experience implementing data contracts, data cataloguing, and governance tooling.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience operating within agile, multidisciplinary delivery teams.
