Enterprise Data Architect
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Dumfries, is currently looking to recruit a Data Architect (Part-time) working 3 days per week, for an initial 3 month contract on a rate of £750/day (Outside IR35). This role will be 2 days from home & 1 day in Dumfries.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain appropriate technical documentation and decision records to provide organisational memory and support future development.
- Provide clear progress, risk and decision reporting to senior DDaT leadership and relevant governance groups.
- Work alongside the Data & Analytics Manager to establish delivery plans, allocating activities appropriately while maintaining clear accountability and professional boundaries.
- Coach and mentor existing staff, transferring knowledge and developing internal capability in modern data architecture, engineering, governance and analytics.
- Act as a senior subject-matter expert, providing authoritative advice to DDaT leadership, operational teams, programmes and senior stakeholders.
Essential Skills:
- Significant senior-level experience of developing and implementing enterprise data strategies and roadmaps within a large, complex organisation.
- Demonstrable experience of designing or implementing modern cloud data platforms/data warehouses/lakehouse architectures.
- Practical experience of Snowflake or comparable enterprise cloud data platforms, including understanding of data ingestion, transformation, modelling, governance and analytics architectures.
- Demonstrable experience of taking an organisation from fragmented/siloed data towards an enterprise data architecture.
- Strong knowledge of data architecture, data engineering, interoperability, data governance, metadata, lineage and data-quality management.
- Significant experience of managing specialist technology/data suppliers and acting as an intelligent client.
- Strong understanding of information governance, security, privacy and the implications of using sensitive data.
- Ability to communicate complex data and architectural concepts to executives, clinicians, operational leaders and non-technical stakeholders.
