Information Governance Manager

Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Glasgow, is currently looking to recruit an Information Governance Manager for as soon as possible for an initial 3 month contract on a rate of £28.06/hour PAYE. This role will be hybrid working.

Responsibilities:

- Provide a Data Protection service for the organisation, continually updating personal knowledge to ensure policies and procedures remain compliant with current legislation and best practice.

- To support the day to day management of the administration procedures of all Freedom of Information requests made to the organisation.

- To assist with the management of the organisation’s compliance with Data Protection legislation so that risk of contravention is minimised by helping to resolve day-to-day queries which arise.

- To assist in the provision of guidance to staff on how to respond to a request for information or exercise an individual right in terms of Data Protection legislation.

- To assist with the co-ordination of the organisation’s implementation of the standards, systems and procedures required for compliance with the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, Public Records Scotland Act 2011 and Data Protection legislations.

- To provide support with the organisation’s Records Management Plan, Policy and Procedures.

- To assist with the communication of matters relating to Information Governance to staff via communications department and to ensure that information resources are kept relevant and appropriate

- To provide support to the Head of Digital Governance on any projects which require information governance input (such as Data Migration workstream for Office 365 implementation, expansion of services)

- Provide support to the Head of Digital Governance on investigation of breaches of data protection legislation.

- Deliver presentations on all matters relating to the Information Governance agenda to large multi-disciplinary professional groups at both local and national level.

- Contribute to the Board’s Information Governance Group, providing appropriate verbal and written updates and progress reports.

- Develop effective working relationships with staff at all levels throughout the organisation to ensure that Freedom of Information, data protection and confidentiality issues are given a high profile. The post holder will meet with all levels of management and staff side on an ad-hoc basis to promote awareness of staff obligations under current data protection legislation and confidentiality. The post holder will provide ad-hoc advice to all members of staff, by virtual meetings, telephone and written communication, including email.

- Carry out any other duties as required.

Essential Skills:

- Educated to Diploma Level or equivalent.

- Experience working in a similar environment with data protection legislation

- Formal training in relevant disciplines

- Significant expert knowledge and experience with data protection legislation and associated confidentiality legislation, liaising with legal bodies and appropriately advising the organisation.

- High level of knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office suite and Microsoft 365.

- Advanced computer skills and proficiency in use of electronic systems.

- Good presentation, communication and interpersonal skills.

- Record of working successfully across professional boundaries.

- Good team player.

- Ability to work on own initiative.

- Well-organised and able to work under pressure delivering high quality in constrained timescales.

- Record of continuing professional development

- Driving licence

Desirable Skills:

- Prior and significant experience working within a complex environment which includes working to legislative time scales and highly sensitive issues.

- To have accomplished recognised accredited training within Information Governance
