Senior Interim Opportunity – Director of Digital

Hybrid | Derbyshire

Rate: £1,100–£1,200/day (Umbrella)

Duration: 6 months initially

Full-time | 37 hours/week

We're working with a local authority who are looking to appoint a Director of Digital for a 6-month interim assignment — a pivotal leadership role driving innovation and digital transformation at scale.

This is a chance to lead the strategic modernisation of digital, data, and ICT functions across a major local authority, delivering tangible impact for services and communities.

The Role

As Director of Digital, you will:

• Lead the Council’s digital and technology strategy, ensuring secure, user-centric, and efficient services
• Drive modernisation and transformation across ICT, architecture, service management, and data functions
• Deliver a forward-thinking roadmap that aligns with organisational goals and citizen needs
• Champion innovation, agile delivery, and better use of data to improve outcomes
• Oversee digital risk governance, supplier partnerships, and service performance frameworks
• Act as a key advisor to the Executive Director and senior stakeholders

What You’ll Bring

• Extensive leadership experience in digital and ICT within large, complex organisations
• A proven track record of delivering major transformation and service improvement
• Strategic thinking, with the ability to align digital solutions to broader organisational outcomes
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including political acumen
• Expertise in ICT governance, architecture standards, and performance-driven service delivery
• Experience managing large budgets and motivating cross-functional teams
