Brief Overview

Our client requires a Financial Systems Developer to take a leading role in the development of their core finance systems, primarily Unit4 ERP and its associated integrations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Systems Development & Support: Lead on the design, development, and implementation of finance systems, integrations, and reporting solutions. Provide expert-level support and technical consultancy on Unit4 ERP configuration and optimisation.
  • Technical Leadership: Serve as the technical lead on finance system issues, impact assessments, and escalations. Ensure appropriate system documentation and knowledge transfer.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for innovation, automation, and performance enhancement across finance operations and technologies.
  • Collaboration & Advice: Work closely with other departments to align system capabilities correctly and offer specialist guidance to system users and business process owners.
  • Governance & Compliance: Ensure adherence to policies, quality standards and legal/regulatory obligations.

Expected Competencies

  • Lead initiatives for systems improvement and service transition across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Strong knowledge across both Finance (AAT or above) & IT (ERP)

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree or equivalent experience; evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Proven experience in a large, complex finance or IT environments
  • Strong background in software development lifecycle, business analysis, and systems integration
  • Advanced Unit4 ERP administration skills, including balance tables, workflow, reporting tools (Information Browser, Xtra Reports, Excelerator, SQL, Power BI)
  • Proficiency in financial business processes: payments, general ledger, billing, reconciliation, debt recovery
  • Experience delivering user-focused technical solutions and managing stakeholder expectations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to explain complex systems to varied audiences

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • A technical or finance qualification (e.g., AAT, CIMA).
  • Prior experience in a Higher Education Environment or Public Sector.
  • Knowledge of Unit4 APIs and Extension Kit.
