Salary: £45,000 - £60,000, depending on experience
Location: Gloucestershire
Clearance: No current security clearance required; however, candidates must be eligible to meet security clearance requirements.
To qualify for clearance, you must hold a British passport and have lived in the UK permanently for 10 years (and have 10 years of travel history).
About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and customer-focused IT Support Engineer (SFIA Level 4) to join a growing team. This role typically represents the next step from a Junior Infrastructure Engineer position, providing an opportunity to develop technical expertise across Microsoft cloud technologies, endpoint management, infrastructure support, and cybersecurity.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide first- and second-line technical support for end users, resolving hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
- Administer and support Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, and Entra ID.
- Assist with the deployment, configuration, and management of Azure resources, including virtual machines, networking, storage, and resource groups.
- Support endpoint management and device compliance using Microsoft Intune and Microsoft Defender.
- Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot desktop, laptop, mobile device, and peripheral hardware issues.
- Assist in the implementation and administration of security controls within the Microsoft ecosystem, including Conditional Access, Defender, and Purview.
- Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate routine administrative tasks and improve operational efficiency.
- Support networking services and troubleshoot issues relating to DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VPNs, and related infrastructure components.
- Document technical procedures, support activities, and system configurations.
- Work collaboratively with infrastructure, security, and project teams to deliver IT improvements and support business objectives.
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Experience administering Microsoft 365 environments, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and Entra ID.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure fundamentals, including virtual machines, networking, storage, and resource management.
- Experience with endpoint management solutions such as Microsoft Intune and Microsoft Defender.
- Understanding of Microsoft security and compliance technologies, including Defender, Purview, and Conditional Access.
- Experience using PowerShell for administration, troubleshooting, and automation tasks.
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, and VPN technologies.
- Experience providing first- and second-line IT support in a professional environment.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
Desirable
- Experience working within secure or regulated environments.
- Exposure to ITIL-based service management practices.
- Knowledge of cloud security principles and best practices.
- Experience supporting hybrid on-premises and cloud environments.
