Information Governance Officer

We are currently working with a Local Authority in  Wales  who are looking for an Information Governance Officer to join their team.

As an Information Governance Officer, you will ensure the Council complies fully with its statutory obligations in respect of information rights legislation (Freedom of Information, Environmental Information Regulations and Data Protection)

Job: Information Governance Officer

Duration: 18 months FTC 

Start date: ASAP

Rate: £34,000

Site presence: Hybrid 

Role Details  

• Help customers access the relevant information they are entitled to

• Respond to a large caseload of requests within strict deadlines

• Identify exemptions to the right of access, researching guidance and case law

• Present recommendations and draft explanations of exemptions applied for applicants

• Encourage the proactive publication of information within the Council and will contribute to broader information rights casework

Experience

• Educated to A level equivalent

• Knowledge of and has worked on Freedom of Information legislation and handling requests

• Can manage a large workload, with strong organisational skills

• Has worked within local authorities previously

• Full driving license
