An established and highly prestigious Higher Education organisation is seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician to join its Estates and Maintenance team on a temp-to-perm basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified electrical professional looking for long-term career stability within a complex and varied building services environment.

Working as part of a multi-skilled maintenance team, you will be responsible for delivering both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across a diverse estate, ensuring critical electrical infrastructure remains safe, compliant, and fully operational.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on electrical plant, equipment and systems.
  • Diagnose faults and undertake repairs to minimise downtime and service disruption.
  • Complete maintenance activities in line with statutory regulations and industry best practice.
  • Update maintenance records and job reports using CAFM systems.
  • Support project works, equipment replacements and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Assist with the preparation of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety and compliance.
  • Provide excellent customer service to building users and stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, contractors and technical teams.

Essential Requirements

  • 18th Edition City & Guilds or NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) in an Electrical discipline.
  • Proven experience maintaining and repairing electrical building services systems.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Good knowledge of health and safety legislation and safe systems of work.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a busy maintenance team.

Technical Experience

Candidates should have experience with a range of electrical systems, including:

  • LV power distribution and switchgear.
  • Single and three-phase electrical systems.
  • Electrical testing and inspection.
  • Lighting and emergency lighting systems.
  • Fire alarm systems.
  • CCTV and access control systems.
  • UPS and standby power systems.
  • Motors, inverters and control systems.
  • BMS/BEMS systems.
  • General building services plant and equipment.
