Rate: £100 per hour (Inside of IR35)
Location: Manchester - minimum two days per week onsite
Duration: 6 months
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Engineering Manager to join a completely new team responsible for developing and scaling a new customer-facing digital product.
This is a hands-on people-management role. You will lead and develop engineers, partner closely with the Product Manager and take ownership of delivering new product features. You must also be comfortable contributing to technical discussions, reviewing code and
challenging engineering decisions.
Key responsibilities
- Lead, manage and develop a team of software engineers.
- Partner with the Product Manager to shape priorities and manage the backlog.
- Own feature delivery from planning through to release.
- Lead Scrum ceremonies and facilitate effective collaboration.
- Work closely with Product and UX teams to deliver customer-focused solutions.
- Contribute to system design, engineering architecture and technical reviews.
- Review code, ask the right technical questions and maintain engineering standards.
- Help establish and scale a completely new product and engineering team.
Required experience
- Proven experience managing and developing software engineers.
- Strong ownership of software delivery within a product-led environment.
- A technical background with experience contributing to architecture, system design and code reviews.
- Experience partnering closely with Product Managers and UX teams.
- Strong facilitation, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Experience leading Scrum teams and managing delivery backlogs.
- Android development experience would be highly desirable but is not essential for an otherwise strong candidate.
- Ability to work onsite in Manchester for at least two days per week.
This role would suit a technically credible Engineering Manager who enjoys people leadership, product delivery and remaining closely involved in engineering.
