This is a flexible, hybrid role and can be based from either of our offices in Peterborough, Manchester or Stoke. We also have largely remote options available.
Role Purpose:
As a Quality Engineer embedded in a software development squad, you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality software through effective test planning, execution, automation, and quality metrics analysis. You will work closely with developers, product owners, and other stakeholders to understand requirements, define test strategies, and implement automated and manual tests that validate functionality, performance, and reliability.
You will play a key role in embedding quality practices into the development lifecycle, contributing to continuous integration and delivery pipelines, and supporting a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
This role sits within our IT Delivery team.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with developers and product owners to define clear, testable acceptance criteria.
• Design, write, and execute test cases based on user stories and technical specifications.
• Develop and maintain automated tests to support regression, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Integrate automated tests into the squad’s delivery pipelines and workflows.
• Perform exploratory testing to uncover edge cases and usability issues.
• Identify, document, and track defects through to resolution.
• Contribute to test data management and environment readiness.
• Monitor, analyse, and report on quality metrics such as test coverage, defect trends, and release readiness.
• Provide actionable insights from quality metrics to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
• Participate in squad ceremonies and advocate for quality at every stage of the development lifecycle.
Skills, Experience and Knowledge:
• Experience in software testing within Agile or DevOps environments.
• Understanding of test automation principles and practices.
• Familiarity with scripting or programming for test automation.
• Solid grasp of software development processes and testing methodologies.
• Ability to track and report on quality metrics using dashboards or reporting tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

- Non-functional testing including performance and security
- TDD practices
