Accounts Assistant

We are working with a fast-growing SaaS business that is seeking an experienced and proactive Accounts Assistant to join their finance team on a 6-month fixed-term contract, with strong potential to transition into a permanent role. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a solid grounding in accounts payable and receivable to make an immediate impact in a hybrid working environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage accounts receivable, including generating and issuing sales invoices (staged billing, SaaS contracts, maintenance renewals)
  • Handle accounts payable, including invoice processing, staff expenses, and credit card transactions
  • Perform credit control and cash forecasting activities
  • Maintain the sales and purchase ledgers, ensuring accuracy and up-to-date information
  • Reconcile bank accounts daily and monthly
  • Support month-end processes, including ledger closure and revenue recognition tasks
  • Prepare and review billing milestone schedules and revenue reports
  • Support Direct Debit administration and reconciliation tasks
  • Assist with project and maintenance billing, including PO chasing and query resolution

Requirements

  • Good general accounting experience in both accounts payable and receivable
  • Understanding of credit control, reconciliations, and revenue recognition
  • Strong Excel skills (e.g., PivotTables, VLOOKUPs) and experience with modern accounting systems
  • Experience with Sage Intacct (preferred) or ability to learn systems quickly
  • Part-qualified (CIMA/ACCA/AAT) or qualified by experience
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
  • Experience in a SaaS or project-based accounting environment (desirable)
