Data Engineer; Power BI, SC eligible, Leeds

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse and maintain Power BI datasets, semantic models, and reports.
• Refactor Power BI models to consume curated, upstream data sources.
• Ensure business logic is appropriately implemented upstream rather than Embedded in reports.
• Validate report behaviour, measures, and refresh processes following data model changes.
• Perform regression testing and support data reconciliation activities.
• Collaborate with business analysts and data engineers to ensure accurate interpretation of business rules.
• Promote best practices for Power BI model design and governance.

Skills & Experience

• Strong experience with Power BI, including datasets, semantic models, and measures.
• Good understanding of data modelling and relational data concepts.
• Ability to work with SQL-based data sources.
• Experience supporting reporting in enterprise or public-sector environments.
• Exposure to AI-assisted tooling (eg Power BI Copilot) is desirable but not essential.
