Our client, is looking for a strong Data Analyst to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of financial technology and enhancing data-driven insights for the market.

They are a dynamic Trading House specialising in cross-asset derivatives, and, in response to heightened customer demand and strategic growth through acquisition, they are now embarking on an exciting journey to unlock greater value from data, adding automation and improving scalability across the data platform.

The goal is to empower their customers and traders with a distinct advantage, delivering real-time data, actionable insights, and advanced analytics.

As a Data Analyst in the Technology Team, you will be working withing the dedicated Risk stream of the business. This role presents an opportunity to gain comprehensive insights into various areas of Risk & Compliance by participating in development projects and fostering collaboration to enhance business processes.

Joining a dynamic new team that is in the initial stages of building a strategic system landscape, you, as the Data Analyst, will have the chance to contribute to the growth of Technology and bring significant value to the Risk department.

Leveraging technology, you will play a crucial role in facilitating growth, automating processes, and enhancing reporting efficiency across Market Risk, Clearing Risk, Counterparty Risk, and Operational Risk domains.

As the Data Analyst, you will be there to advance data management to support process automation and build out the user interface and visualisation tools to support business intelligence (BI). You will also automate key reports into visible, high value BI for regular use by corporate and business stakeholders; and provide secure, available, stable and accurate data via the in-house Data Platform to enable process and reporting automations.

You will be tasked with:

  • Analysing Risk data sourcing, how it flows and is housed in the organisation. You will map how to acquire data from primary and secondary sources and maintain data systems.
  • The migration of legacy data warehouse to strategic data platform.
  • Identifying, collecting and migrating data to and from a range of systems into the central Data Platform, working closely with the Data Management Team.
  • Analysis of normalised transactional data and analytic data sources.
  • Analysis of semi structured and file-based data extracts.
  • Data modelling to transform operational data into analytic/reporting structures such as Kimball style multi-dimensional models.
  • Taking ownership of data issues through to resolution, working with IT and other internal stakeholders.
  • Managing data loads for reporting, projects, testing, cleansing, updates, and migrations.
  • Performing and automating data validation to improve data quality and integrity.
  • The translation of business requirements into business intelligence visualisations / dashboards that can be easily understood and used.
  • Developing and maintaining procedures, workflows and other documentation relating to data management.
  • Keeping up to date with key industry and technology developments as they relate to data management best practice in the financial services industry.
  • Optimising metrics and/or KPIs to unlock maximum value from data assets.
  • Locating and defining new process improvement opportunities.

The salary on offer for this Data Analyst Role, is up to £100,000 + Bonus and Benefits package.

The company works a hybrid model, with 3 days per week in the office, close to major tube stations including Liverpool Street.

Essential Skills and Experience Required:

  • Proven Data Analyst experience of at least 5 years, within a Financial Services environment, with particular emphasis on Risk areas.
  • Data modelling, cleansing and enrichment, with experience in conceptual, logical and physical data modelling and data cleansing and standardisation.
  • Familiarity with Data warehousing and analytical data structures.
  • Data quality assurance, validation and linkage.
  • Experience creating BI models and dashboards, ideally in Power BI.
  • Software development methodologies (Sprints/Agile) and project management software (Jira Software).
  • SQL Server Database
  • Databricks (or Alternative Modern Data Platform such as Snowflake)
  • Knowledge of Orchestration Tools and processes (e.g SSIS, ODI, Informatica, Data Factory)
  • Power BI Development including the data model, DAX, and visualizations
  • Relational and Dimensional (Kimball) data modelling
  • Proficiency in SQL (T-SQL, PL/SQL, Databricks SQL)

Desirable Experience includes:

  • Experience working in a regulated environment and knowledge of the risk and compliance requirements associated with this.
  • Microsoft BI Stack (SSIS/SSAS/SSRS)
  • Oracle Database
  • Knowledge of analytic database functionality (partitioning, compression, column-store technologies)
  • MongoDB
  • Cloud Data Technologies (Mainly Azure - SQL Database, Data Lake, HD Insight, Data Factory etc.)
  • Power BI Administration
  • Splunk
