Principal Test Engineer
About The Role Team – Member Servicing and Claims - IT Working Pattern - Hybrid – 2 days per week in any of the Vitality Offices (Bournemouth, London or Stockport). Full time, 37.5 hours per week. We are happy to discuss flexible working! Top 3 skills needed for this role:
- Expertise in Test Automation Framework Design
- Leading & executing in Strategic Test Planning
- Recognised as a subject matter expert in testing standards and governance
- Lead and implement the full software test lifecycle, including planning, execution, and reporting.
- Design and maintain automation frameworks and educate teams on their use.
- Deliver accurate test estimations for complex, multi-system projects.
- Define and coordinate test plans and approaches across multiple teams.
- Oversee test execution, ensuring integration with CI/CD pipelines.
- Manage defect triage and ensure timely resolution.
- Champion adherence to testing standards, supporting the development of new practices and tools.
- Engage with stakeholders across IT and business to align testing with strategic goals.
- Mentor and coach test engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence.
- Stay current with industry trends and recommend technologies to modernise Vitality’s testing capabilities
- Test automation framework design and maintenance
- Proficiency in automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright)
- Programming/scripting (e.g., Java, Python, C#, JavaScript)
- API testing and automation (e.g., Postman, REST Assured)
- CI/CD integration (e.g., Jenkins, Azure DevOps)
- Test planning, estimation, and execution
- Defect management and reporting
- Adherence to testing standards and governance
- Previous experience mentoring and coaching test engineers
- Able to work together with cross-functional teams
