Product Owner

Brief:

Voltaware is an electricity data intelligence start-up based in London, operating globally. We use proprietary electricity sensors and AI-driven algorithms to break energy consumption down to the appliance level, giving households meaningful insights to reduce waste, improve comfort, and move toward net zero.

We’re expanding our product team and are seeking a Product Owner. This is a hands-on, cross-functional role focused on managing and delivering across our full product portfolio, including native apps, internal CRMs, B2B dashboards, and API suite.

About the Role:

As Product Owner, you’ll sit at the intersection of product, engineering, and commercial. You’ll be responsible for maintaining the product backlog, aligning delivery with strategy, and ensuring that features meet user needs, technical requirements, and business goals.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in agile environments, has experience working closely with developers, and can help drive delivery while maintaining focus on quality and user value.

Key Responsibilities

• Product Ownership: Own and evolve Voltaware’s product portfolio - including native mobile apps, internal CRMs, B2B dashboards, and monthly energy reports.
• Agile Facilitation: Lead Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives, and daily stand-ups.
• Backlog Management: Maintain, prioritise, and refine the product backlog, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and stakeholder input.
• User Story Development: Write clear user stories, use cases, and acceptance criteria that communicate business needs to the development team.
• Team Enablement: Enable your engineering team to deliver their best work; removing blockers, enabling smooth collaboration, and tracking delivery.
• Technical Planning: Work closely with the Tech Lead to define feature specs, review technical approaches, and understand dependencies.
• QA & Testing: Coordinate with QA to ensure all features are tested and meet acceptance criteria.
• Client Engagement & Discovery: Join client meetings and lead product discovery to validate concepts, gather feedback, and ensure delivery meets user needs.

Skills & Experience

Required:

• 2–3 years in a Product Owner, Product Manager, Delivery Manager or Scrum Master
• Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, particularly Scrum
• Familiarity with technical concepts like APIs, system architecture, and cross-platform integration
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to align cross-functional teams and prioritise competing demands
• Proficiency with tools like Jira, Confluence & Figma

Preferred:

• Experience with sensor-based technologies, smart meters, or IoT platforms
• Exposure to UX/UI design principles or working alongside design teams
• Familiarity with QA workflows and release cycles

• Salary: £40,000 – £50,000 (depending on experience)
• Location: Hybrid – circa 2 days/week in our London office

The Interview Process

1. Screening Call (15 mins): A relaxed chat with our existing Product Owner to explore your background and gauge fit for the role.
2. Panel Interview (45–60 mins): A deeper dive with our COO and Tech Lead, focusing on your product thinking and previous experience.
3. In-Person Conversation (1 hour): A more informal meeting with our COO. We’ll talk through the product vision, company culture, and answer your questions.
