About Vulcain Engineering

Vulcain Engineering Ltd, our UK business, is well positioned within the UK Nuclear industry. We provide the flexibility our clients demand by working at our customers’ sites in the UK and Europe as well as carrying out work remotely on their behalf. We are dedicated to providing the highest level of organisational support to key projects.

Vulcain Engineering was founded in the mid-2000s to specialise in energy and environment projects. Our knowledge of the energy and environment sector means we can support our customers at all stages of the engineering-procurement-construction-commissioning (EPCC) project lifecycle.

With operations in 16 countries and employing over 6,000 staff worldwide, our business responds to the needs of our clients by delivering expertise in the form of high added value engineering services.

Business Analyst - Nuclear

The Business Analyst will play a key role in supporting nuclear programmes by defining, planning, and delivering business process models and operating frameworks across multiple disciplines. Reporting to the Head of IT (or equivalent function), you will work closely with senior stakeholders and project teams to design effective and efficient business operating models that align with strategic objectives and deliver measurable benefits.

You will remain engaged throughout the full lifecycle — from early concept definition through development, implementation, and business adoption — ensuring that evolving requirements are understood, validated, and translated into solutions that are fit for purpose.

Some of the main responsibilities of the Business Analyst will include:

  • Lead engagement with business stakeholders to shape project concepts, clarify scope, assess impacts, and identify early risks, issues, and dependencies.
  • Capture, evaluate, challenge, and prioritise business requirements in collaboration with senior management, ensuring alignment with organisational strategy.
  • Work with internal teams and external delivery partners to develop solution options and assess these against business and user needs.
  • Prepare clear and robust business cases and investment proposals, articulating tangible benefits and opportunities for value optimisation.
  • Act as the custodian of business requirements throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring solutions remain aligned with agreed outcomes.
  • Apply knowledge of emerging trends, best practice, and innovative approaches to drive continuous improvement in business operations.
  • Support business readiness activities, including process walkthroughs, testing, validation, and adoption planning.
  • Collaborate with Information Managers to ensure alignment on data definitions and enterprise data models.

Alongside a commitment to our values of Care & Compassion, Performance, Team Spirit, and Inclusiveness, we are looking for individuals who can bring the following:

  • Relevant qualifications or experience in business architecture, business analysis, process management, management information, or IT system development.
  • Experience delivering business architecture solutions that reduce duplication and improve operational efficiency.
  • Strong understanding of business change within complex, evolving environments.
  • Expertise in business process analysis and design, including modelling and collaboration tools.
  • Experience with Business Process Modelling Notation (BPMN) 2.0
  • Advanced stakeholder management and facilitation skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders.
  • Experience working on business change in nuclear or major infrastructure projects would be beneficial but not required
  • Reside locally to Bristol or be prepared to relocate, as this permanent role does not include travel expense coverage.

Please note that visa sponsorship is not guaranteed and is assessed on a case-by-case basis, depending on role criticality and project needs. Many of our UK projects require high-level security clearance, meaning we can often only consider candidates with an existing, indefinite right to work in the UK. Exceptionally, we may consider visa sponsorship for applicants with niche experience aligned to our core work (e.g. EPR/nuclear new build).

Remuneration & Benefits:

We offer a competitive salary tailored to your experience and background. Whether you're earlier in your career or bring more senior-level expertise, we encourage you to apply if this role aligns with your skills, or if you're open to discussing other opportunities within this discipline.

We also offer a benefits package, both standard and enhanced, which is designed to support your wellbeing, development, and financial future, including:

  • 25 Days Annual Leave + Bank Holidays, with the ability to swap bank holidays for cultural or religious celebrations
  • Matched Pension Scheme
  • Enhanced Maternity, Paternity, Adoption and Neonatal Care Leave
  • Employee Referral Scheme
  • Private Medical & Dental Insurance
  • Electric Vehicle Scheme
  • Cycle to Work Scheme
  • Training & Development, including additional qualifications and accreditations relevant to your role
  • Travel Insurance – for both business and personal travel
  • Employee Assistance Programme
