Head of IT

Location: Hybrid (2 days per week in office)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and people-focused Head of IT to lead and evolve our technology function during a period of transformation. This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing IT operations, managing a multi-disciplinary team, and driving the consolidation of multiple IT environments into a unified, efficient structure.

Our organisation operates entirely within an Azure Cloud environment, with cybersecurity services delivered via an external partner. As we wind down several long-term projects, the successful candidate will play a critical role in shaping the future IT landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the integration of multiple IT estates into a single, cohesive environment
  • Oversee day-to-day IT operations, ensuring stability, performance, and scalability
  • Manage and develop a team of approximately 18 internal staff, alongside third-party providers
  • Act as the primary point of contact for external vendors and partners, ensuring strong collaboration and delivery
  • Take ownership of IT contract management, including supplier performance and value optimisation
  • Drive continuous improvement across service delivery, systems, and processes
  • Collaborate across the organisation to align IT strategy with business objectives

Team & Structure

You will operate within a matrix environment, working across:

  • IT Service Desk
  • IT Projects Team
  • Core IT Function

This role requires a leader who can bring teams together, build alignment, and foster a high-performing culture.

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience in a senior IT leadership role (Head of IT or similar)
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure / cloud-based environments
  • Demonstrated ability to manage third-party vendors and external partners
  • Solid understanding of IT contract management and supplier governance
  • Experience leading teams through change, transformation, or integration projects
  • Strong people leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop teams
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
