Job Description
We're hiring an experienced Engineering Lead to join Account Management (Hold) – the team that enables customers to hold, manage and organise money across Current, Savings and Child accounts.
Our mission is to make Wise the best everyday banking solution for international customers by increasing hold volume, account adoption and long-term retention. This is a hands-on leadership role: you'll guide engineers, own the team's technical direction, and be accountable for the reliability, scalability and correctness of core account systems. You'll work closely with Product, Design and Analytics to deliver cross-functional initiatives, and you should be comfortable making high-impact architectural decisions and getting into the details when needed.
What you'll be doing
- Translate product strategy into technical roadmaps that move KPIs (hold volume, account adoption, etc.).

Hard skills
- Technical leadership & system design expertise: strong grasp of scalable, distributed systems, event-based architectures and microservices; able to make high-impact architectural decisions.
Soft skills
- Leadership through empowerment: build autonomous teams by providing context, trust and clear direction (not micromanaging).
Nice to have
- Experience in fintech or high-volume transactional environments (payments, banking or similar).
