Network Engineer (ACI/Firewalls)

Contract: 6 months Inside IR35

Location: Remote UK

Day rate: £400 - £500

Overview

We are looking for an experienced Network Engineer (ACI/FW) to join a highly technical team supporting large-scale enterprise network environments. This role will focus on Cisco ACI fabric operations, Firewall technologies, and collaboration with engineering teams delivering critical infrastructure and migration projects.

You will work within a mature organisation with established processes and a structured change management framework, contributing to both BAU operations and project-based work.

Key Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience with Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI), including:

  • Fabric design and setup

  • Configuration and policy management

  • Day-to-day operations and troubleshooting

• In-depth knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking, including routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP

• Proven experience with FortiGate Firewalls and FortiManager, including:

  • Firewall rule configuration

  • Static routing

  • Policy management and troubleshooting

• Experience with automation and Scripting tools such as Python and Ansible to streamline network operations (highly desirable), particularly for ACI and F5-related deployments

• Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work closely with:

  • F5 migration engineers

  • Technical Leads and wider infrastructure teams

• Experience working within large enterprise environments with mature operational processes and rigid change management frameworks

Nice to Have

• Exposure to or hands-on experience with F5 platforms

• Relevant certifications, such as:

  • Cisco CCNP Data Center

  • Cisco ACI specialist certifications
