Location: Hybrid - Remote (4 days per week) + Derby onsite (1 day per week maximum)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Consultant to deliver a Windows 200x upgrade project. This role will involve upgrading domain controllers and member Servers running Microsoft services, primarily focusing on Terminal Services.

You will take responsibility for server auditing, design documentation, and implementing server upgrades, ensuring a smooth migration path across Legacy and modern Windows Server environments. A key aspect of the role is the ability to present technical solutions and recommendations to stakeholders and gain agreement on the most appropriate upgrade strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct server audits to assess current infrastructure.

• Develop and deliver design documentation for upgrades.

• Implement upgrades across Active Directory and Windows Server environments.

• Provide guidance and consultancy on technical paths, migration strategies, and best practices.

• Present technical recommendations and secure customer approval for next steps.

• Ensure successful implementation of upgrades with minimal business disruption.

Skills & Experience Required

• Proven experience with Active Directory upgrades (Windows Server OS migrations).

• Hands-on expertise with:

  • Windows Server 2003

  • Windows Server 2008

  • Windows Server 2022

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Terminal Services (Citrix knowledge preferred).

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

• Ability to deliver technical documentation and present upgrade paths clearly.

Certifications

• Microsoft Windows Server certification (or equivalent relevant experience).
