Legal Counsel

W&P Partners Legal Recruitment is proud to partner with a high-growth, venture-backed technology scale up on the appointment of a Legal Counsel to join its expanding in-house legal team in London.

This role offers a rare opportunity to join an innovative, fast-growing technology company at the forefront of AR and digital engineering.

The Role

Based at the company’s London HQ and reporting to the VP Legal, the Legal Counsel will play a central role in advising stakeholders across the business, including executive management, R&D, sales, finance, HR and operations.

The position will have a strong focus on commercial contracting, particularly supporting the EMEA sales function, while also providing exposure to intellectual property, product counselling, corporate matters and data protection.

This is a broad, hands-on role ideally suited to a commercially minded lawyer who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial technology environment and is eager to take ownership of diverse and high-impact matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate high-value commercial agreements with customers, partners, and suppliers
  • Support the EMEA sales team with complex commercial negotiations
  • Provide product counselling by collaborating closely with engineering teams on new products and features, identifying legal risks and regulatory requirements
  • Lead initiatives to streamline legal processes across the business
  • Develop and maintain legal playbooks and template agreements
  • Advise on intellectual property matters, including patents, trademarks, and copyright risk, working alongside external patent attorneys
  • Provide strategic advice on privacy and data protection compliance
  • Support corporate and board matters, including fundraising activities
  • Maintain and enhance information security policies
  • Act as a trusted legal adviser to cross-functional stakeholders, ensuring legal and compliance alignment with business strategy

Qualifications & Experience

  • Law degree (or equivalent qualification)
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in private practice and/or an in-house legal team
  • Demonstrated experience in commercial drafting and negotiation
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear, practical advice for non-legal stakeholders
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to take ownership of matters independently
