Pensions Calculations Developer

Join us as a Pensions Calculations Developer within our Outsourcing line of business based out of our Redhill office working remote or hybrid.

If you have a passion for technical design, development, problem solving, and ability to learn new concepts and best practices this might be the right opportunity. You will be responsible for technical analysis and development of technical solution and support for configuration and maintenance to address client requirements and deployment of global solutions for Outsourcing Technology Applications as this role focuses on technical support and development for the automation of pension calculations and reports using established software development methodology, technical architecture and framework.

The Role

  • Builds a comprehensive understanding of the applications, systems and infrastructure, analyses client requirements and provide inputs in planning appropriate technical solution with a focus on accuracy, build efficiency and maintainability of calculation implementation and letter configuration.
  • Delivers technical solutions for calculation automation implementation and letter configuration for new clients and enhancement support to existing clients.
  • Resolve complex technical problems encountered during development and/or post implementation, escalating only the most sensitive problems to senior team members as appropriate.
  • Draws on internal and external practices to establish best practices within the team and ensures that it is shared and understood.
  • Continuously develops technical knowledge and is recognised as a key resource across the global team.
  • Collaborates with other specialists and/or technical experts to ensure that Outsourcing are delivering to the highest possible standards and that solutions support stakeholder needs and business requirements.
  • Works closely with QA, Product/Business Analysts, and other Software Engineering functions to ensure high quality on-time delivery.
  • Initiate practices that will increase code quality, performance and security.
  • Helps drive best practices of coding and development with the team to encourage continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Help drive effective Agile Scrum practices to meet/exceed software engineering goals. Embrace and contribute to the team's Agile philosophy.
  • Builds the team’s technical expertise/capabilities/skills through the delivery of regular feedback, knowledge sharing, and coaching.
  • Contributes to resource management activities and programmes to be able to attract, identify and keep best-in-class talent.
  • Proactively identifies and leads the implementation of continuous improvement items with the support of a Technical/Team Lead or a Manager.
  • Works in line with ISO standards, OGB system, process and quality requirements and WTW Excellence guidelines.

What you’ll bring:

  • Experience in DB and/or DC occupational pension schemes and how it translates to pension calculation and letter configuration is essential
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills along with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced collaborative team environment that has tight deadlines.
  • Experience on Unix (Linux/AIX), Oracle, and SQL is preferred
  • Extensive experience in Object Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts applied in Python is preferred.
  • Experience on source code control systems is preferred and strong knowledge in code quality, performance and security and proven experience in developing and managing the delivery of system/software development projects in a structured environment throughout the entire lifecycle including QA is preferred
  • Knowledge on continuous delivery and continuous integration practices.
