VP of Engineering - Fullstack - React, Typescript, AI Agent, Python - £120K + Equity

My client is a London-based PropTech startup (founded 2024) building an agentic AI platform that automates property management workflows. They're tackling the UK's heavily regulated property market with AI that handles compliance, maintenance coordination, and tenant communications end-to-end.

The problem they're solving: Property managers spend 60-80% of their time on repetitive admin tasks. My client's AI handles these autonomously, freeing managers to focus on growth and relationships.

Current traction: Live customers, proven product-market fit, now scaling from dozens to thousands of properties under management.

The Product

Their AI assistant manages multi-party workflows across:

• Compliance automation (coordinating landlords, tenants, contractors, and managers)
• Tenant enquiries (intelligent responses using vector databases)
• Maintenance coordination (coming Q2)
• Lettings automation (coming Q3)

Multi-channel: Web platform, WhatsApp, Email, SMS (voice calls coming soon)

The hard problem: Their compliance workflow coordinates 4 parties simultaneously to renew certificates-scheduling, verification, documentation, and regulatory tracking-all handled autonomously by AI.

The Role

This is NOT a "strategy-only" VP role. You'll be:

️ Writing code (30% of your time)

️ Architecting systems (30% of your time)

Building the team (20% of your time)

Setting technical strategy (20% of your time)

You'll Own:

Technical Leadership

• Define architecture across frontend, backend, and AI systems
• Make critical tech decisions balancing speed vs. scalability
• Drive engineering best practices (code review, testing, CI/CD)
• Ensure reliability, security, and performance at scale

Hands-On Engineering

• Write production code in React/Next.js, Node.js/NestJS, Python
• Build complex features (especially multi-party coordination workflows)
• Optimize AI model performance and conversational flows
• Debug critical production issues

Team Building

• Hire and mentor world-class AI and software engineers
• Build high-performing, collaborative engineering culture
• Scale the team strategically (currently 3 engineers 10+ by EOY)

What We're Looking For

Must-Haves:

Technical Chops

• 5+ years software engineering in production environments
• Strong in Node.js/TypeScript and Python
• Experience building microservices architectures
• Hands-on AI/ML integration (LLMs, RAG, agent frameworks)
• Cloud infrastructure expertise (GCP/AWS/Azure)
• Real-time systems and async processing experience

Leadership

• 2+ years leading engineering teams (3-10 people)
• Proven track record hiring and mentoring engineers
• Built engineering processes from scratch
• Strong collaboration with product and design
