Biomedical Data Scientist
We are looking for a Biomedical Data Scientist (or similar background). You will sit at the intersection of data science, clinical validation, and research management. The individual should be driven, detail oriented and highly motivated to succeed.
As a small company, we all tend to get stuck in with different tasks. However, your primary focus will be managing the data pipeline from our clinical studies, developing algorithms in Python, and playing a crucial role in securing our future by managing clinical research and academic partnerships. The overall aim is to progress the development of the product and help bring it to market.
The job would be hybrid working around the London, UK area.
Key Responsibilities
1. Data Science & Algorithm Development
- Take ownership of developing and testing device algorithms using Python.
- Work with and support a team of contract developers to implement your algorithms and other new software features.
- Manage and process data collected from clinical studies and user trials.
2. Clinical Insight & Regulatory Compliance
- Consider the end to end use of the device to ensure that the algorithms are safe and effective for use with the intended clinician and patient group.
- Support the documentation and processes required to take a medical device to market.
- Ensure regulatory compliance in terms of testing, validation, and verification.
3. Research & Project Management
- Assist with grant writing, planning and coordinating new research projects.
- Take ownership of ongoing research projects, ensuring deliverables are completed within timeframes and budgets.
- Present updates to the grant funding bodies during and at the completion of existing research projects.
Role Requirements
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Education: Relevant degree or PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Data Science, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
- Data Proficiency: Strong experience with Python for data analysis and algorithm development.
- Research Management: Experience managing academic research projects or clinical trials.
- Communication: Professional English language skills with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders and academic partners.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Clinical Experience: Experience working within or alongside a clinical environment (e.g., NHS or clinical trials).
- Software development: Experience working in teams developing firmware, phone apps, or databases.
- Hardware development: Experience working in teams developing electromechanical devices.
- Medical devices: Experience working within medical devices and ISO 13485, and an understanding of UK/EU medical device regulations
