Receptionist
Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and reliable team member to join our friendly and helpful reception team.
The ideal candidate should have excellent customer service skills and deal with patients in a polite, professional and caring manner. You must have the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment, remain calm under pressure and be able to multi-task and show initiative.
Excellent IT (preferably in EMIS Web) and communication skills are required.
Previous NHS GP receptionist experience preferred.
Reception office duties are covered Monday to Friday 8:00am - 6.30pm; it is essential that applicants are flexible, where necessary, to cover holiday/absence.
Main duties of the job
Job Responsibilities include:
Answering the telephone, taking messages, and passing them on appropriately.
Manage the reception desk ensuring surgeries run smoothly and efficiently.
Processing all requests for repeat prescriptions in accordance with practice guidelines.
Checking patients records and issuing reminders for long term condition reviews/blood tests etc.
To provide point of contact for patients and act as a focal point of communication between patients, Doctors and other members of the Primary Health Care Team.
Be able to cover all reception/administration tasks as necessary.
Process appointment requests by telephone and in person.
Process on-line consultations and messages from AccuRx.
Taking requests for home visits and ensure they are recorded and processed correctly.
Liaise with hospitals, primary health care team, social services, etc.
Computer data entry updating patient records.
Maintaining confidentiality at all times.
Receive patients and visitors courteously and efficiently.
To have a thorough knowledge of all Practice procedures and policies.
To work in accordance with written protocols.
Any other tasks allocated by Practice Manager / GPs / Senior Receptionist
