Hardware Deployment Engineer

We’re looking for a hands-on IT Technician to take ownership of our hardware build, deployment and logistics operation from our Hemel Hempstead office. This role will be on-site in our Hemel Hempstead office Monday-Thursday with the option to work from home on Fridays. You will largely be the sole person working in our Hemel Hempstead office so you must be reliable and self-motivated.

This is a varied role combining IT hardware configuration and deployment, asset and stock management, procurement coordination and day-to-day operational ownership. You’ll make sure customer equipment is built, tested, documented and delivered accurately and on time, while helping us continually improve the way our hardware operation runs.

What You'll Be Doing

• Building, configuring, staging and preparing laptops, desktops and other IT hardware for customer deployments and service requests.
• Carrying out quality checks to ensure equipment is configured accurately and meets customer requirements.
• Coordinating the day-to-day hardware build workload, prioritising requests and ensuring delivery deadlines are met.
• Managing incoming and outgoing hardware shipments from our Hemel Hempstead office.
• Maintaining accurate asset, stock and inventory records.
• Keeping customer build documentation accurate and up to date, identifying and resolving any gaps.
• Coordinating hardware procurement and working with Procurement to ensure appropriate stock levels are maintained.
• Monitoring inventory and ensuring equipment is available when required.
• Supporting and mentoring our Junior Hardware Deployment Engineer across build, stock and fulfilment activities.
• Identifying potential risks or delays and taking ownership of resolving or escalating them.
• Maintaining a safe, organised and efficient hardware build environment.
• Continually looking for ways to improve our build, deployment, stock and fulfilment processes.
• Providing regular updates on workload, stock levels, procurement requirements and delivery performance.

What We're Looking For:

You’ll have experience within IT hardware deployment, IT support, asset management, procurement or technical logistics and be comfortable taking ownership of a busy operational environment.

We’re particularly interested in someone who has:

• Hands-on experience building, configuring or deploying IT hardware.
• Experience with IT asset management, stock control or inventory management.
• An understanding of IT procurement and hardware fulfilment.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Excellent attention to detail, particularly around builds, assets and documentation.
• A proactive approach to customer service and problem solving.
• The confidence to work independently and take ownership of operational issues.
• The ability to support, coach or mentor a more junior colleague.
• A continuous-improvement mindset and an interest in making processes more efficient
